Marriage and Sexuality
Everyone knows and has been facing social issue these days. I have especially gone through the Indian novels written by women writers. Almost themes of novels reflect the social and cultural issues, but it is considered to the voices of women across the country can be heard, not to be seen by the men. Most of Women Novelists explore their personal thoughts and ideas against the suppressed voices of women through their literary essence. Meena Kandasay, a poet, fiction writer, social activist and the boldest voices of young women. Jhumpa Lahiri, also a young voice of India for pathetic issues of women. Nayantara Sehgal, a writer of women having political background, her voice is also the same. Kiran Desai's thought reflects the social and cultural clashes in The Inheritance Of Loss.Anita Desai, a novelist, short- story writer and children's author reflects the same but by elevating the modern sensibility like T.S.Eliot, Virginia Woolf. Urvashi Butalia is an Indian feminist and historian who reflects the pitiable condition of Women and children during partition of India and Pakistan. Ira Trivedi, a prominent writer of Indian literature, she has written a book dealt with Indian marriage system and Sexuality in "India in Love:Marriage and Sexuality in 21st century". She explained in this book the burning woman issues. Arshia Sattar,Twinkle Khanna, Nikita Singh and many others reflect the social exploitation in different forms of Indian women.
They all raise their voices against such social and cultural influences in the society in 21st century. Their novels release a beautiful message to us through their literary skills, not to suppress the voices of women and not to show the dominancy upon them. Their literary war of thoughts like to remove evil deeds from the society. They want the society without injustice, crime, exploitation, inequality and barriers for women. Women voices of India gradually increase against exploitation and prostitution. They claim that the society of India crush the status and future of female so that they want to shake up the base of feminism around the nation.
