Short Biography of Christopher Marlowe
Christopher Marlowe (1564- 1593),he was the greatest dramatist in English literature before William Shakespeare. He hailed from a shoe- maker family, nothing sure of his life record but we suppose that he completed his B.A in 1583 with very low record of merit so that the university refused him his admission in M.A. Then, he started work as a spy in British Government channel during his free time. When he performed his duty with full force by maintaining privacy of government. By taking care of his personality, the university decided to grant him M.A degree in English.
On another side, he was very ambitious to write dramas and wanted to establish himself as a famed dramatist in the world. He had not enough source to write at home therefore he took decision to move from there and shifted in London. After spending six months there, he wrote Hero and Leander and some poems then he wrote Tamburlaine The Great(1587),Dr. Faustus (1588),The Jew of Malta (1590),Edward ll(1591),The Massacre of Paris (1593) and unfinished Dedo,Queen of Carthage (1593).
He was also associated with Robert Greene, John Lyly and William Shakespeare. He was rapidly climbing up on high scale within a few span of time in world of English literature. He had been called the pioneer of tragedy. In the very short span of 29 years, he was able to give a new platform of plays. His name and fame also associated with the development of Blank Verse to express the inner views in dramatic form. He had bought a higher level of morality in his tragic flow. His chosen plot was uncomparable to other tragedians in the literary world. His contributions regarding dramas were really the greatest and tried to explain inner or outer feeling in dramatic form.
